On January 25, Packers CEO Mark Murphy responded to Aaron Rodgers’ comments clearly and concisely suggesting uncertainty about his future: “There is no way Aaron is not one of the Packers. He’s going to be the league’s MVP, maybe had his best year. He is our clear leader, and we are not fools.

Since then, the Packers have done nothing with Rodgers’ contract to solidify those feelings.

The Packers paid Rodgers a bonus of $ 6.8 million, as they did earlier this month, rather than converting it into a signing bonus. A complete restructuring would have given Rodgers the security he covets.

Murphy didn’t speak about Rodgers or the quarterback’s contract on Tuesday.

“I can’t really get into specific players. We were able to make room with the others, ”Murphy said when asked why the Packers hadn’t changed Rodgers’ contract, via Jason Wilde of ESPN Wisconsin.

Murphy had a similar response when asked why the team didn’t want to make sure Rodgers was the Packers quarterback beyond 2021.

“I won’t go into details. Nice try, though, ”Murphy said.

A third attempt ended in a similar fashion – with a no response – after Murphy was asked if he was concerned about the issues between the Packers and Rodgers.

“I’m not going to get into an individual player, issues like that,” Murphy said.

So to recap: Murphy isn’t talking about Rodgers today, and the Packers and Rodgers are staying where they were at the end of their season.
