Mark Wahlberg didn’t have the best time to eat up to 11,000 calories a day to prepare for his next movie, “Stu”.

To portray the real boxer-turned-priest Father Stuart Long, the fitness-obsessed actor had to put on a lot of weight, gaining at least 20 pounds in three weeks.

“Unfortunately, I had to consume, for two weeks, 7,000 calories, and then for another two weeks, 11,000 calories,” Wahlberg said on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” Thursday.

“It was fun for about an hour,” he added.

The “Ted” star explained that sticking to a high calorie diet was “a physical and difficult thing to do,” much more than when he needed to lose weight for previous roles.

“Losing weight is just a bit tough – you just don’t eat and exercise,” he said. “And that, even when you’re full, I would wake up after a meal and have another meal.” I ate every three hours. It wasn’t fun. “

Wahlberg, who turned 50 last month, said the process of gaining and losing weight is even more difficult as he gets older. However, he felt the pressure knowing he was “on a countdown on my own dime” on set.

“Once the metabolism starts to slow down, it gets really tough,” he said. “I was trying to make this movie for six years – we only had 30 days to shoot it – so I really wanted to make it.”

The “Joe Bell” star’s comments are a change of tone from his initial excitement when he first shared the news of his weight plan. In April, he appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and said he couldn’t wait to eat what he wanted.

“They want me to make it as healthy as possible,” Wahlberg said at the time. “I’m like ‘Man, I’ve been on such a diet for so long, I just wanna eat whatever is in sight.’ I wanna go to bakeries, I wanna go to Denny’s, I wanna buy pancakes, I wanna get whatever I can get my hands on.
