Hamilton and Verstappen clashed at the Copse corner in the first lap at Silverstone as they battled for the lead with the Red Bull driver being thrown heavily into the barriers.

Marko said there was no doubt in his mind that Hamilton was to blame for the crash, and he felt it was irrelevant that such an incident happened in a high-speed corner like Copse .
“If a competitor hits our rear wheel massively with their front wheel, then it’s not a racing accident anymore in the fastest turn on the course,” he said. “It is negligence to dangerous behavior.”
When it was suggested to him that Mercedes felt Verstappen was responsible for the crash, Marko said: “So they’re all blind. The reruns showed it pretty clearly. He got into our right rear wheel with his left front wheel and sent Verstappen into the barrier. “
Red Bull revealed that Verstappen’s impact with the tire barrier recorded at 51G, with the race needing to be marked with a red flag in order for repairs to be made.
An enraged Horner texted F1 race director Michael Masi to let him know he believes Hamilton was entirely responsible for the crash.
“As far as I’m concerned, all the blame is on Hamilton who should never have been in this position,” he said. “You could have had a massive accident. Thank goodness he got away with it. So I hope you deal with it appropriately.”
