Saturday’s Ligue 1 game between Marseille and Rennes has been postponed after supporters rushed to the Marseille training ground.
By French media RMC Sport (h / t ESPN.com), around 150-200 Marseille supporters tried to enter the Robert Louis Dreyfus Center.
RMC Sport tweeted video footage of supporters appearing to launch flares and firecrackers at the training site:
“In view of the incidents that occurred at Olympic Marseille training center this afternoon, the OM-Stade Rennais match (22nd matchday in Ligue 1 Uber Eats) has been postponed to a later date, ”Ligue 1 said in a statement.
RMC Sport noted that fans were protesting against club officials.
Marseille manager André Villas-Boas, who has been with the squad since May 2019, recently said he was likely to leave the club at the end of the Ligue 1 season.
Marseille is currently in seventh place with a record of 9-5-6 in 20 matches this season of Ligue 1. OM also come in last place and elimination in Group C of the 2020-21 season of the UEFA Champions League.
