Martin Bashir told Princess Diana that security forces are planning to kill her, according to a new documentary.
Royal biographer Andrew Morton says Bashir warned her: ‘They are going to wipe you off.
Mr Morton suggests that the BBC reporter showed Diana a document – supposedly a bank statement linked to the security forces – when he referred to an apparent threat to his life as part of his attempts to obtain his infamous interview with the princess.
The claims will air in a documentary on Channel 4 on Monday evening. Mr Morton says Diana remained ‘terrified’ after being ‘fed stories’ by Bashir.

Mr Morton suggests that the BBC reporter showed Diana a document – supposedly a bank statement linked to the security forces – when he referred to an apparent threat to his life as part of his attempts to obtain his infamous interview (above) with the princess.
The new allegations come as the BBC launches an independent investigation into the 1995 Panorama interview.
Bashir, now the BBC’s religion editor, has previously been accused of spreading lies about Diana’s friends and staff to gain her trust, in addition to showing her fake bank statements.
The new documentary includes footage of BBC bosses celebrating the tenth anniversary of Diana’s interview.
Among them, former managing director Tony Hall, head of company news in 1995, who praised the interview.
Lord Hall specifically praises Bashir, saying the reporter “works very hard to put your trust in you”.
BBC documents show it was Lord Hall who effectively exonerated Bashir when evidence of the fake bank statements was initially revealed.
Mr Morton, whose biography of Diana shocked the world when it was released in 1992, told the team behind the new documentary Bashir played about the Princess’s fears that his private secretary Patrick Jephson was in cahoots with his counterpart of Prince Charles’ team, Commander Richard Aylard. . The internal investigation, however, saw the bosses of the BBC decree that the graphic designer assigned by Bashir to create the false documents should never again work for the company.
Mr Morton, whose biography of Diana shocked the world when it was released in 1992, told the team behind the new documentary Bashir played about the Princess’s fears that his private secretary Patrick Jephson was in cahoots with his counterpart of Prince Charles’ team, Commander Richard Aylard. .
“They were involved in this kind of dark conspiracy, to the point where Diana thought her head was on the chopping block,” Mr. Morton says.
‘[Bashir] nourished her stories that left her, and I quote here one of Diana’s confidants, “terrified, horrified”.
On one occasion, he showed her bank statements allegedly on the security forces and said dramatically: “They will erase you”.
Diana’s interview: The Truth Behind the Scandal also features Mr. Jephson revealing the personal impact of the Panorama affair.
“It bothers me more than I can say that most likely the princess died thinking I had betrayed her,” he said. Diana was killed in a car crash in Paris less than two years after the interview.
A BBC spokesperson said the company was ‘determined to find out the truth about what happened’.
‘That’s why we named [former Master of the Rolls] Lord Dyson must conduct a fully independent investigation, ”they said.
‘It is vital that everyone with information shares this with Lord Dyson, so that he can thoroughly investigate and draw his conclusions after hearing all the evidence. ”
