Marvel TV President writes a letter to fans and includes a subtle dig at Netflix – BGR

The Hollywood journalist publishes today a piece that announces what it describes as the "beginning of the new global streaming order", which may seem a little dramatic, but which evokes the unsurprising completion of the purge by Netflix of the original series of Marvel TV.

The motivation of the play was the announcement yesterday of the cancellation of the last two sets of Marvel on Netflix – The punisher, whose second season will mark the final of the series, and Jessica Jones, who still has a third season on the way to Netflix, which will serve as the last. However, fans do not necessarily have to lose heart, because there is still hope that the heroes of at least some of these series and other canceled series of Marvel can still live.

As evidence, we present an open letter published by Marvel TV President, Jeph Loeb, who wrote a kind of adieu letter thanking fans for their support of the Marvel series on Netflix. Previous series of Netflix had already been canceled, including Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Daredevil and The defenders.

"It had never been done before," begins Jeph's letter, which you can read in full here. "Four distinct television series, each with playwrights, screenwriters, directors, performers and super talented teammates, coming out of the months, then …

"… They would meet in a single series of events in the heart of New York. We called them the defenders. And together we were delighted by the stories of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and even the Punisher who joined them! "

He notes that Marvel has assembled teams to write, produce, direct, edit and score 13 seasons and 161 one-hour television episodes. And that everyone involved in the process "loved every minute of it". Without calling Netflix its name, the letter continues with a subtle reflection on the broadcast giant as it ends – all the while insinuating that there is more in this future direction.

Jeph writes: "Our network partner may have decided to stop telling the story of these great characters … but you know Marvel better than that. As Matthew Murdock's father once said, "The measure of a man is not the way he is hit on the carpet, it is his way of getting up". To be continued…!

How does he "get up", huh? It will certainly be interesting to see if this last comment makes reference to the possibility that these programs are broadcast, or that the characters take into account some new programming resulting in Disney +. This is of course the rival of Netflix that Disney is preparing to launch later this year, which will host streaming branded content under the banner of Disney – which includes Marvel.
