The Kate Bishop DLC was initially slated to launch in October 2020, while the PS5 and Xbox Series X / S versions of the game were slated for release in November.

However, the two were delayed so Crystal Dynamics could focus on fixing various issues with the existing game which had contributed to the decrease in player numbers.

Publisher Square Enix later confirmed that Marvel’s Avengers failed to make a profit in its launch month following “slow initial sales.”

Square Enix President Yosuke Matsuda said in November that the company hopes to make up for the game’s poor preliminary performance with the release of a significant amount of new content in the sixth month ending March 31, 2021.

Crystal Dynamics also provided an update on the future of the Tomb Raider series this week. In a video outlining its plans for the franchise’s 25th anniversary this year, the studio revealed that Lara Croft’s upcoming adventure will “unify” the timelines of Core Design’s original Tomb Raider games and its own reboot trilogy.

However, franchise game director Will Kerslake also warned fans that the studio had no plans “for a major game announcement in the near future.”
