Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered Apparently Removes Reference To Avengers Game

Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered looks like an extraordinary update to the classic PlayStation 4 superhero game from Insomniac Games, and not just because its visuals are from another world! No, the biggest upgrade here is the apparent removal of a reference to Marvel’s Avengers. Zing!

We’re kidding, we actually think the Crystal Dynamics co-op title is a lot of fun – but the nod really looks like it’s been removed. Greg Miller posted the following video of the PlayStation 5 re-release below, and pointed out that the dialogue when photographing Avengers Tower has been changed:

In the original PS4 game, Spider-Man said, “They’re on the West Coast or something. Surf probably. However, in the remaster, her dialogue was changed to, “Avengers Tower, so cool!” Too bad they’re never around to use it.

While this has never been confirmed as a cross-reference, the early events of Marvel’s Avengers find the cast based in San Francisco, so many have speculated it was a little Easter egg – in particular with Spider-Man set to join the release ranks as an exclusive next year. For some reason, it looks like Insomniac Games wanted to sever that connection.

We’ll let you draw your own conclusions.
