Marvel’s Tom Hiddleston reveals his fan-favorite Loki theory

Marvel’s Tom Hiddleston shared his favorite Loki fan theory and buckle up because this one is a doozy. The MCU star sat down to answer questions from fans on Tumblr and there was some delightful interaction. It turns out that a meta-theory that Loki was actually playing Tom Hiddleston the entire time here on Earth has gained traction. Adalor asked the actor this question not just based on Loki, but everything in the Marvel Studios movies. To think of an Asgardian coming down to our planet to play a charming British actor with all that power is kind of hysterical. It seemed that Hiddleston himself was having a little trouble putting it into words. But, he also laughed heartily at the premise and told fans that you can never really tell. Check out his explanation of this wild theory below.

“Someone once told me that he heard something – that he thought Loki was basically real and lived on Earth,” Hiddleston began. “And that he played a character called Tom Hiddleston. And that he played it very well. So yeah, I thought it was – it’s all very meta and confusing, so you know, maybe I’ll be the last to find out. Who knows?

Loki Writer Eric Waldron spoke to Marvel.com about all the different fan theories that hypothesized Kang and how the creative team approached the big bad. (Who actually is the One Who Remains, rather than the Conqueror that everyone immediately jumped into in the premiere of the last episode.)

“We knew we wanted this show to be huge, and we wanted it to really end on a high and have a huge impact on the MCU going forward,” Waldron told Marvel.com. “Knowing that Kang was probably going to be the next big cross-movie villain, and because he’s a time-traveling multiversal opponent, it always made so much sense. I made up this great multiversal warfare mythology. [in Episode 1] and presented it one day in the room to our producers. And they said, yeah, let’s go. We knew we were going to meet the man behind the curtain eventually. And then it was just up to us to make sure this meeting was really effective. “

Loki will return for season 2.
