Another Republican urges President Donald Trump to concede the 2020 election.
Governor Larry Hogan of Maryland said on Sunday he wanted more Republicans to speak out against Trump, who has repeatedly refused to recognize President-elect Joe Biden as the winner.
“I have no doubts that on January 20 the president-elect will be sworn in,” Hogan said on CNN’s “State of the Union”. “But I’m not sure I can say I’m convinced the president is going to do the right thing.”
“We used to go overseeing elections all over the world. And we were the most respected country in elections and now we are starting to look like a Banana Republic,” he added. . “It’s time for them to stop the nonsense. It gets more and more bizarre every day, and frankly I’m embarrassed that more people in the party aren’t talking.”

Business Insider and Decision Desk HQ called a race for Biden on Friday, November 6. A day later, other mainstream media also called the election in favor of Biden. But since then, Trump has repeatedly insisted that the outcome is not yet final.
The Trump campaign has filed dozens of electoral fraud lawsuits, most of which have so far been refused, rejected or withdrawn.
After the results were announced, a group of international election observers announced that they had not found any cases of electoral fraud. The Organization of American States said in a preliminary statement that a team of 28 experts who observed elections across the country did not witness any fraud or irregularities, despite Trump’s claims.
Lawyers at firms working on Trump’s challenge efforts told the New York Times they fear their lawsuits against the election results may be based on evidence.
The Times also reported that the outlet contacted election officials in every state, each of whom said there was no evidence that the fraud influenced the presidential election.
In speaking out against Trump’s attempt to derail his exit from the White House, Hogan joins a growing list of Republicans calling on the president to give in. First Lady Melania Trump is one such person, according to a CNN report on growing concerns within Trump’s inner circle. The outlet also reported that Trump’s eldest daughter and adviser, Ivanka, was among those telling him to accept the results.
Meanwhile, others close to the president – including lawyer Rudy Giuliani and the senses. Lindsey Graham and Ted Cruz – urge him to keep fighting.
Trump appeared to concede last week, claiming Biden “won” for the first time. But he quickly returned to these comments.
Trump lashed out at Hogan almost immediately after his remarks, calling him RINO (Republican in name only).
