The 28-team squad of the NCAA 2019 Women's Lacrosse Championship was unveiled Sunday night and, as expected, Maryland leads the standings. Just behind the Terps is No.2 Boston College. Both teams remained undefeated until losing in their respective conference league matches.

It was the teams that beat them in the conference finals that took the other two places. North Carolina, who defeated Boston College in the conference championship game on the Atlantic coast, is the third seed. Northwestern, who won the Big Ten title today against Maryland, is fourth seeded.

The ACC finished with four of the top six spots, with Syracuse placing fifth and Virginia placing sixth.

Ivy League champion Princeton is the 7 favorite and the final final was won by Michigan, 8th. This is the first participation in the NCAA Tournament for the Wolverines.

The eight best seeds will serve as home sites for the first and second rounds and the first six seeds will be excluded from the second round.

The action of the tournament begins with a pair of games in the opening round on Tuesday. Southern Conference champion Mercer will face the Atlantic Sun champion in Jacksonville in a match, while North East Conference champion Wagner will face the Atlantic Atlantic Conference champion Fairfield, to the other.

The Johns Hopkins University will host the championship weekend, hosting the semi-finals on Friday, May 24 and the championship game on Sunday, May 26 at the historic Homewood Field.
