BUCKS COUNTY, PA – Severe storms caused severe damage in Bucks County on Thursday, prompting the Bensalem Police Department to declare a “mass casualty incident” after a dealership roof local automobile was ripped off by a suspected tornado.

Numerous tornado warnings were issued in the area on Thursday evening.

Street Road in Trevose was badly affected by the tornado storm. Sources say serious damage to the building has been reported at Faulkner Mazda dealership in Bensalem, where photos on social media show a roof collapse.

At 7 p.m., the National Weather Service confirmed “tornado storms” in the Bensalem area and northeastern Philadelphia.

A high fatality incident refers to an event in which three or more people were injured. Bensalem’s director of public safety Fred Harran said five people were injured. None of their injuries are life threatening, according to a press conference given Thursday evening by officials.

Bensalem officials said they established an evacuation center at the Neshaminy shopping center.

Tornado warnings in the area ended after 9 p.m. Flash flood warnings in Levittown and Croydon remain in effect until 11:15 p.m.
