A Massachusetts teenager died Thursday night after police said he had been mutilated to death by a "group of dogs".
Ryan Hazel, 14, was declared dead at the scene after apparently "suffering traumatic injuries in various parts of his body," said Bristol District Attorney Thomas Quinn at a press conference Friday.

Quinn stated that the young teenager had an "arrangement" with the owner, who was later identified as Scott Dunmore, 49, to look after his animals when he was out of the city.
"He went there to take care of several animals on the property while the owner was in Boston," he said. "The victim is regularly engaged in dogs and other animals of the owners."

Ryan's grandmother told the police that she would normally wait until the end of her process, which normally takes between 30 and 45 minutes, but this time, she worries about when the teenager did not come back after an hour.
She contacted Ryan's parents who were in New York at the time and they contacted a neighbor to check on the boy.
When the neighbor arrived on the property, which was described as a large lot with several buildings, he saw the victim lying in the yard surrounded by dogs, suffering from "traumatic injuries to various parts of his body," Quinn said. .
The neighbor attempted CPR, but Ryan was pronounced dead when the first responders arrived at the scene.

Quinn declined to comment further on the condition of the victim or how the dogs were found. He said that dogs did not seem to be "malnourished".
There were four dogs in the yard, a Belgian Malinois and several Dutch shepherds. Seven other dogs were caged at the time of the attack.
The eleven dogs were placed in "custody" by local animal control where they will be quarantined for 10 days, according to law.
"It does not appear that criminal acts are suspected at this time. It was clearly a terrible tragedy for the victim, his family, his friends and the city. My heart is for everyone, "Quinn said.

He added that the owner had cooperated with the authorities but that his dogs were not allowed in the county. The majority of dogs belonged to the owner, but he also monitored several dogs that did not belong to him.
Police said that there has never been any calls about the property in the past, with the exception of a fire that would have occurred in February.
