Massive gator prowls the Florida golf course during Tropical Storm Eta

Oh snap!

Jaws dropped when a huge dinosaur-like alligator was caught prowling the lawn of a Florida golf club during Tropical Storm Eta.

The gigantic emerald beast, with legs longer than a dog’s and a massive, fleshy torso, was filmed walking around the Valencia Golf & Country Club in Naples as the declassified hurricane hit the coast of the Gulf of Florida Wednesday.

“I was a little shocked, obviously,” Tyler Stolting, the club’s first professional golf assistant to take the video, said Thursday.

“It was pretty big, the biggest I’ve ever seen!”

The clip conjured up memories from prehistoric times and questions about the beast’s authenticity – could such a creature really walk the Earth?

But Stolting and his colleague Jeff Jones insisted the alligator was the real deal, even though they were only briefly impressed with its size.

“It’s been a while since I’ve seen such a big one, I was a little shocked,” Jones, the club’s senior golf professional, said, adding that neighbors had seen the beast before.

“I’ve been here for a long time and I’m not surprised to see him cross the golf course, I’m a little surprised at his size.

For Stolting, that was normal for the course of life in the Sunshine State. He was quick to sweep away public amazement over the reptile, saying he didn’t “want” to discuss it.

Twitter residents who viewed the snaps pointed to Florida’s many dangers as a reason to stay away. Tweets about deadly hurricanes, sharks and seemingly prehistoric beasts that apparently arose out of the murky waters of the state’s many canals were soon tossed.

“This is one of the reasons I will not retire in Florida. Someone needs to capture and study this creature. ” wrote @ StacyDAlessand3.

“I just moved here yesterday. I’m pretty sure I can get my deposit back, ” Elizabeth Westhoff tweeted.

When asked about the alligator’s safety concerns for golfers and residents, Jones was unfazed.

“As long as no one feeds him, everything will be fine,” he joked.
