A Colorado state highway remained closed on Sunday after a huge rock slide left an 8-foot nick on the road and a rock "the size of a building" that the blocks, officials said.
The block that sliced Friday on Colorado's State Highway 145 weighed about 8.5 million pounds, the state's transportation department announced.
The second rock, which according to the authorities, was 48 feet high and weighed about 2.3 million pounds, was "encrusted" on the isolated road in the southwestern corner of the state, the department said in a statement. article published on Facebook.
Officials said that to remove the rock, it should be sandblasted into smaller pieces.
No injuries were reported and it was not known when the two-lane road would reopen.
An aerial video appeared to show the giant path as the rocks sloped as they headed for the road.
