Matt damon says he recently quit using the offensive homophobic word – this after his own daughter had to put him off … with sort of a detailed thesis on why it’s bad.
The actor made an extensive interview with Sunday Times which was released on Sunday, and among the many topics covered on the changing Hollywood landscape (for the worse, Matt seems to think) … this one was touched on in the same breath.
When we sit down with the actor, we feel like everything Matt Damon loves about his industry is falling apart.
An immediate difference between Damon’s early days and now is that the main men no longer sell the movies that most people watch. pic.twitter.com/NfnMjwkadZ

He says he’s definitely put the f word aside in recent months, explaining that he didn’t really consider it an insult when he was growing up, adding … “The word my daughter calls the ‘f-slur for a homosexual ‘was commonly used when I was a child, with a different application. “
He goes on to say that he made a joke using the word in front of one of his 3 daughters, – who are between 10 and 15 years old – and they actually protested against its use.
Matt says, “She left the table. I said, ‘Come on, that’s a joke! I say that in the movie Stuck on You!’ She went to her bedroom and wrote a very long and beautiful treatise on the dangerousness of that word. I said, “I withdraw the insult!” I get it. “
The scene Damon is referring to takes place near the end of the scorching 2003 comedy – in which he and Greg Kinnear playing the brothers who are joined at the hip, literally. The word appears in its abbreviated form as a musical montage begins to play after their separation.
There’s a lot more to Damon ST’s interview – including a hot shot that anyone, really, with the mind could have played Iron Man … not just RDJ. It’s a whole different box of worms, however.
Either way, Matt says the modern world has taught him how to do one thing so much better… “shut it up further.”
