Matt Mitrione against Sergei Kharitonov ends in no-contest

UNCASVILLE, Connecticut – The first consecutive Bellator event on two consecutive nights ended with a stunning 15-second no-contest.

Matt Mitrione (13-6 MMA, 4-1 BMMA) surprised Sergei Kharitonov (28-6 MMA, 2-1 BMMA) in the cup very early in the fight. Kharitonov immediately went to the canvas and writhed in pain on the carpet. Shortly after, the cage doctor entered, as well as one of Kharitonov's corners, presumably to translate.

Finally, referee Leon Roberts stood up and signaled that the fight was over on the advice of the doctor not to prosecute Kharitonov. Kharitonov was taken out of the cage on a stretcher.

The heavyweight clash was the main event of Friday's performance at Bellator 215 at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. The main map aired on Paramount and aired on DAZN after the preliminary matches of MMAjunkie.

Kharitonov missed the ball on the left and missed the goal, but just 14 seconds after the fight, a left kick from Mitrione was given. He went down immediately and rolled from his belly to his back. He winced in pain and the cage doctor came in to watch him during his five-minute rest period.

Bellator is back at the Mohegan Sun Arena Saturday for the Bellator 216.
