Matt Vasgersian leaves ‘Sunday Night Baseball’ after Red Sox-Yankees

Perhaps the fallout from Matt Vasgersian’s not-good, very bad call in the American League Wild Card Game between the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees did not end on Tuesday night.

And no, not just because it remained a topic of conversation at the water cooler Wednesday morning – with the hilarious appeal from Yankees broadcaster John Sterling.

Vasgersian, the play man for ESPN, told executives he was stepping down from his post on “Sunday Night Baseball,” according to the New York Post.

Vasgersian, as baseball fans will recall, threw his best home run for a two-man single by New York Yankees slugger Giancarlo Stanton.

“Oh, he’s got another one! He got another! Vasgersian exclaimed on ESPN. “No! It’s out of the monster. And Stanton, who put it in the home run trot thinking the same as me, is satisfied with a single. Oh my.”

You can listen to it here.

Vasgersian told the Post he wanted to make ongoing deals with MLB Network and regional shows for the Los Angeles Angels.
