Stelio Mattheos, a future Carolina Hurricane driver, is completing treatments for testicular cancer and will not be attending training camp next month.
The 20-year-old should return to health and resume training for the 2019-2020 season, once his treatments are completed and his approval obtained. He was diagnosed in June, two days after helping American Hockey League Charlotte win the Calder Cup, underwent surgery to remove a testicle and has undergone several chemotherapy treatments in the last two months.
