Matthew Boyd continues to make it look easy.

the Detroit The Tigers southpaw recorded his sixth consecutive quality start on Friday night in a 4-3 win over the Royals.

Boyd threw seven innings, allowing two runs on five hits. He removed nine batters and walked one.

This season, Boyd has an ERA of 3.05 and a WHIP of .0992. Her 57 strikeouts are tied for third in the majors.

Boyd was born early by the Tigers' offensive in the win.

At the end of the first run, the Tigers put the first three riders on the base, headed by a single Miguel Cabrera RBI in the middle of the field. Two batters later, Ronny Rodriguez ran into a ground race and then a wild goal.

On the play, Rodriguez slipped into the house a shoelace before right-handed Royals, Jorge Lopez, put the etiquette.

The three points in advance were enough for Boyd, who continues to settle closer to the top of the rotation than to the middle.

Rodriguez added a double in the bottom of the third and Cabrera got a 3-on-4 record.

Joe Jimenez launched an eighth scoreless run and Shane Greene made his 13th save of the season.

Here are three observations of the Tigers victory over Kansas City:

Boyd Day

The term – awarded to the best baseball throwers to watch out for – was awarded to Boyd two years ago by USA TODAY baseball writer Gabe Lacques, who predicts the future success of the southpaw. These days, "Boyd's Day" has been nothing if not consistent. Once again, he worked economically in the thick of the game. Once again, he allowed little damage. And again, he eliminated a lot of hitters. There were some failures – he put the leading men at the base in three straight sets, starting in the second – but all but one were quickly eliminated. One of them, the fast Billy Hamilton, was removed to first base. Boyd's day was good news for the Tigers.

Early offense

The Tigers did not give Lopez the opportunity to settle. Jeimer Candelario walked, Nicholas Castellanos was set apart, then Cabrera brought him home to start the match. But the most important game of the first run came when Rodriguez jumped from the third goal on wild ground. The throw went about 10 feet from catcher Martin Maldonado and could have been played back and forth, but Rodriguez's aggressive play paid off. After the Royals challenged the call safely, the play was confirmed. The first run gave Boyd a good lead early.

The bullpen

Things are back to normal in the back of the Tigers office. After being temporarily demoted from his coaching position two weeks ago, Jimenez launches as if it was the first half of last season, when he won an appearance in the All-American League All-Star Game. He recovered in eighth place and Greene, who had just been named AL's backup player for the months of March and April, allowed a solo and a double circuit, while recovering the backup. He has not suffered yet this season.
