Matthew Broderick at the post-apocalyptic Netflix show – Deadline

If you've ever wondered what an apocalyptic drama comedy looks like in high school (and who did not?), Netflix has a crush on you: a clip for the next movie Dawn, starring Matthew Broderick as a high school principal invaded by teenage tribes of all kinds, from jocks and players up to the 4-H club.

With a handful of reminders that Broderick was once Ferris Bueller, Dawn gives the actor back to school, although this time he has the charge (at least nominally) and a nuclear explosion has just done what nuclear explosions tend to do. And the night of homecoming, no less.

The official synopsis: Follow an eclectic group of survivors as they navigate this strange and treacherous world, Dawn is part of the samurai saga, the endearing story of the passage to adulthood and Battle Royale.

In addition to Broderick as Glendale High School Principal Michael Burr, Daybreak introduces Krysta Rodriguez as a professor of biology; Colin Ford as a hero and each teenager, Josh Wheeler, 17; Sophie Simnett as Sam Dean, the most admired girl at Glendale High; Austin Crute as Contemplative Samurai, Wesley Fists; Alyvia Alyn Lind as a very unstable genius, Angelica Green; Cody Kearsley as Turbo Bro Jock, the bloodthirsty jocks chef; Jeanté Godlock in the role of Mona Lisa, his right hand tough to cook; and Gregory Kasyan as Eli Cardashyan (not one of those Kardashians).

The executive producers are Aron Eli Coleite, Brad Peyton and Jeff Fierson.

As Deadline reports, Broderick and the cast will participate in the world premiere screening of Dawn scheduled for October 4 at the New York Comic Con.

Dawn debuted on October 24 on Netflix. Watch the trailer above.
