Matthew Whitaker joined the judiciary of the House to "clarify" his testimony

FActing Attorney General Matthew Whitaker will appear privately before the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday.

Whitaker testified publicly before the panel in February and was criticized by the House Judiciary Committee Chair, Jerry Nadler, D-N.Y., Who said he did not answer the panel's questions correctly.

As a result, Whitaker will meet Wednesday with Nadler and committee member of the Judiciary Committee of the House, Doug Collins, R-Ga., Wednesday, according to CNN.

Nadler laid the groundwork for Whitaker to appear again and "clarify" his testimony by writing a letter after Whitaker's initial testimony. He argued that Whitaker's responses were "unsatisfactory, incomplete or contradicted by other evidence".

In particular, Nadler challenged Whitaker's answers to the question of whether Trump or his associates contacted him after his former lawyer, Michael Cohen, pleaded guilty to lying to Congress in November. CNN reported in December that Trump had spoken with Whitaker about Cohen's confession.

Nadler's office did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Washington Examiner.

Whitaker, who is no longer at the Department of Justice, led the agency from November 2018 to February after the dismissal of former Attorney General Jeff Sessions by Trump. During this period, Whitaker was responsible for overseeing Russia's ongoing investigation led by Special Adviser Robert Mueller. The investigation focuses on Russia's interference in the 2016 election and on whether the Trump campaign was concluded with the Kremlin.
