Mayim Bialik explained how her close friendship with Neil Patrick Harris fell apart decades ago.
The “Jeopard! The host and former “Big Bang Theory” actress appeared on “The Late Late Show” Tuesday where she shared a “terrible story” with James Corden.
Former child stars were once close in their teens and even supported each other as guests on their hit TV shows. After Bialik, 45, appeared in Harris’ medical drama “Doogie Howser, MD” in 1990, the 48-year-old woman appeared on her sitcom “Blossom” the following year.
But their friendship was put to the test in 1997. At the time, Harris appeared in a production of the musical “Rent” written by Jonathan Larson where he played the role of filmmaker Mark Cohen. Everyone gave Tony’s future winner a standing ovation for his performance – except Bialik.

“It’s a long time ago… it wasn’t my thing,” Bialik said. “But when your friend is in a room and everyone is clapping at the end and you say to your boyfriend next to you, ‘I don’t wanna put up with this,’ then you look up and Neil Patrick Harris is watching. right at your place, it’s a bad day. “
Bialik insisted Harris’ performance was “fantastic”.
“I mean, he’s amazing, but I just wasn’t into the ‘Let’s give a standing ovation’,” she explained. “It wasn’t my thing. But this is the time when you don’t say it out loud because Neil was reading my lips and when I went backstage to say hello – we were friends back then. – he said, “I kid you not, ‘Why did you say you weren’t going to get up?’ He read my lips! “
Bialik admitted that she didn’t have an answer for him.

Bialik claimed Harris had since forgiven him.
