TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WCTV) – Tallahassee Mayor John Dailey says he is extremely saddened to learn of Wednesday morning's stabbing and said random acts of violence did not describe the identity. citizens of Tallahassee.
Dailey said September 11 was an opportunity to remember and show his gratitude to the forces of order and first responders.
He said he could not be more proud of the Tallahassee Police Department and the first responders at the scene.
"They responded with incredible speed, they immediately apprehended the suspect, they secured the area to ensure the safety of citizens and they did a very, very good job," he said.
The mayor has a clear plan of action and has scheduled a meeting next week to discuss violence in the community. this meeting will be held with Leon County officials, the school district and local law enforcement officials.
The groups had a meeting scheduled in two weeks from now, but Mayor Dailey pushed it until next week, completely erasing the agenda in the process to focus only on violence.
The mayor said it was important to include the school district in the conversation, stating that he played a unique role in the assessment of young people living in the Tallahassee community.
"We are all trying to understand why this is happening, but it also shows that our community, like all other communities in the country, is not immune to these random acts of violence by these monsters. ", did he declare. "But it will bring our community together, we will tighten more and we will focus on how we can move forward with public safety in our community."
