McCarthy had previously warned his members not to call each other in public after the January 6 riots in the Capitol because it could potentially endanger their colleagues.
The assistant said McCarthy’s frustration was audible on the call and his message was even louder. McCarthy also said the war within the party prevented the GOP from focusing on political initiatives and countering the new president.
