Teachers have always had an incredibly difficult and important job, but they have had a particularly difficult time during the pandemic. From the transition to virtual classrooms, then the return to traditional classes in demanding conditions, they have always been up to the task.

While many restaurants offered specials and discounts in honor of back to school, most weren’t specifically meant to honor teachers and school staff. These essential workers often go unrecognized, but for a week that is about to change. McDonald’s will be providing school staff and teachers with a free “Thank You Breakfast” between October 11 and 15.

To get free breakfast, teachers, administrators and school staff nationwide simply need to go to their participating local McDonald’s during breakfast hours, present valid work ID, and collect their free lunch. . Thank you meals will be presented in a classic Happy Meal box filled with a breakfast sandwich, hash browns and a drink. Not everyone has to eat the same breakfast either. There will be sandwich options that include an Egg McMuffin, Bacon, Egg and Cheese Cookie or Sausage Cookie, and the drink can be a medium hot or iced McCafé coffee or a medium soft drink. This offer is valid once per person per day, so a teacher who loves breakfast might want to come all week.
