McDonald’s Australia is postponing its 50th anniversary celebration of Stream Week and removing its themed PS5 controller from the giveaway line.
McDonald’s Australia has confirmed that its Stream Week will not start on Sunday August 1 as originally planned.
Initially, McDonald’s Australia announced that it would host a broadcast week, with a different Twitch broadcast each day. Along with the announcement, the company unveiled the award: a McDonald’s-themed PlayStation 5 controller. According to Press Start, McDonald’s Australia created 50 of these limited edition PS5 controllers to celebrate its 50th anniversary. To earn one, players would need to log into one of the seven streams throughout the week. Twitter user Mattias Wahl shared the image of the controller on Twitter, which features classic McDonald’s red, white and yellow colors and comes with a burger and fries.
However, along with the news that Stream Week would not start on the scheduled day, the news that the PS5 controller would no longer be part of the celebration also came.
“Unfortunately, McDonald’s broadcast week has been postponed and will not take place this Sunday. We are unable to confirm a new date for the proposed event at this time,” McDonald’s Australia said in a statement. “Sony PlayStation has not authorized the use of its controller in promotional material related to the proposed Stream Week event and we apologize for any inconvenience caused. McDonald’s Streaming Week has been postponed and Sony PlayStation controllers are no longer available. will not be included in the gift. ”
Although no new date for Stream Week has been announced, the company unveiled two new awards, including McDonald’s 50th anniversary hoodies as well as “50 subscriptions to each channel to give away.”
Unfortunately for those interested, the McDonald’s themed PS5 controller is not available for purchase.
