McFarland joins Tessitore on the MNF stand for 19

Booger McFarland will leave his field analyst position to join commentator Joe Tessitore in Monday Night Football's 50th season stand, ESPN announced Wednesday.

Midfielder Lisa Salters, who is returning for her eighth season at MNF, and new officiating analyst John Parry will be joined.

"I am so excited to continue to be part of Monday Night Football, especially with the opportunity to be on the 50th season stand and working with real professionals and friends like Joe and Lisa," said McFarland in a statement. "We have a lot of games and I'm looking forward to starting our trip to Louisiana, where I was born and grew up."

The MNF season will begin with the Houston Texans visiting the New Orleans Saints on September 9 as part of the ESPN doubleheader program.

"The insight, personality and passion of Booger's game make him the ideal person for the position," said ESPN Executive Vice President Stephanie Druley. "Joe and he are close friends since they helped ESPN launch the SEC network five years ago, and their chemistry together on the stand – and with Lisa – will give us a team that fans want to spend the Monday night this fall. "

McFarland, a two-time Super Bowl champion, joined MNF in 2018 after being a college football analyst for four years on ESPN, ABC and the SEC network.

He replaces Jason Witten, who retired after a season to join the Dallas Cowboys. The Pro Bowl 11 times spent a season with Monday Night Football.
