Measles outbreak: 33 students from 2 Vancouver schools ordered to stay at home

According to Vancouver Coastal Health, 33 students from two French language schools in Vancouver were ordered to stay at home because they did not provide proof of measles vaccination.

Eight measles cases were confirmed at Jules Verne High School and Ecole Rose-Des-Vents.

Measles immunization rates documented in both schools were about 70% before the outbreak. After a vaccination campaign, they now represent about 95%. But the 33 students who were ordered to stay at home were not able to provide documentation or still refuse to vaccinate.

If there are no new cases of measles in schools by March 7, these students will be able to return to school.
