Meeting between Jeff Lurie and Doug Pederson Monday in South Florida

Everything could happen tomorrow in South Florida. Eagles owner Jeff Lurie will meet with head coach Doug Pederson to decide the future of the Eagles offense and the organization.

The Eagles’ biggest financial commitment is to Carson Wentz, who is expected to demand a trade because his relationship and trust with Pederson is irreparable. This could therefore be taken into account in any decision.

Does Pederson want to promote Press Taylor as his offensive coordinator? Is it better for the Eagles? Is this the best way to coach Wentz firmly? How about Duce Staley as the offensive coordinator? Would it suit everyone involved?

Will Pederson stand firm? Doug knows he can find another job.

If the Eagles are considering letting Pederson go for a new offensive play caller, can that play caller be a leader of men like Pederson?

There are so many levels to consider with these big decisions ahead. The Eagles are looking for a good plan and good vision for the offense. They have critical, timely hiring decisions to make. Even though they do not have a head coach search, they have vacancies for offensive coordinator and defensive coordinator and the roster will be transferred not only for 2021, but also for the future.

Pederson coached the Eagles to their first Super Bowl victory in team history and he is highly regarded. But feelings and accomplishments aside, Lurie will have to decide if Pederson is the right person to lead the Eagles in the future.
