The Mega Millions jackpot for Friday’s lottery draw has grown to around $ 244 million with a cash option of $ 187.6 million.

The winning numbers were: 3, 19, 24, 44 and 50. The Mega Ball drawn was 8 with a Megaplier of 3X.

The jackpot is the highest since June 9, when a ticket holder in Arizona took home a prize of $ 414 million.

While no one across the country hit Tuesday’s $ 229 million jackpot, a second prize ticket worth $ 889,678 was sold in California. It matched five digits but not the Mega Ball. California Lottery prices vary based on ticket sales and number of winners. They differ from the second fixed prices offered in the other participating states.

In New Jersey, one of 16 tickets purchased that matched four numbers is worth $ 1,000 because the winner spent an additional $ 1 on the Megaplier option, lottery officials said. The other 15 are valued at $ 500 each.

The winning numbers for Tuesday were: 7, 33, 53, 61, and 65. The drawn Mega Ball was 14 with a Megaplier of 2X.

Mega Millions tickets cost $ 2 each and in New Jersey must be purchased by 10:45 p.m. on the night of the draw. The odds of a ticket hitting the jackpot by matching five numbers and the Mega Ball are 302,575,350 to 1. Players have a shot of 1 in 12,607,306 to win the second prize of at least $ 1 million by matching five numbers.

Mega Millions is played in 45 states, Washington DC and the US Virgin Islands.

The New Jersey Lottery office in Lawrence is open to the public by appointment. You can still claim your winnings – provided they’re less than $ 599.50 – in person at any retailer.

The lottery also accepts mailed complaints, although officials warn that payments could be temporarily delayed. Winners are encouraged to make copies of the claim form and the winning ticket for their records.
