Brookville, N.Y. – The ticket for the biggest Mega Millions Jackpot CBS New York reports that lotto history was claimed Tuesday, while representatives of a group of lucky coworkers helped them win the victory on Long Island.
The eighth largest Mega Millions jackpot in history now belongs to a group of 23 colleagues who came forward anonymously in January to form an LLC, aptly named "New Life 2019."
The lottery officials said the group had chosen a lump sum payment that, after taxes, was $ 176 million. Each winner will win nearly $ 7.7 million.
"I was so shocked, surprised and at the same time excited," said Niz Aydogan, a Brookville Auto Service employee.
Aydogan thinks he has sold the ticket to a usual store that he describes as a middle-aged friendly woman who arrives every Sunday.
"I hope they'll come back here and tip me," he joked.
Representatives of the group said that they each invest one dollar a week to buy tickets until the lucky New Year draw is over.
Officials say employees will continue to work, but they are still incredulous and have big plans for new homes, college funds for their kids, and vacations with their families.
Before the win, the biggest jackpot in the history of the New York Lottery was a $ 326 million Mega Millions, won by a retired elementary school principal at Wurtsboro in 2014.
The owner of Brookville Auto Service will also receive a $ 10,000 prize for ticket sales.
