Meghan Markle and Prince Harry paid a touching but subtle tribute to the victims of the September 11 attacks.
To mark 20 years of the deadly attacks on Sunday, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex changed the homepage of their charity website, Archwell.com, to honor the full list of those who died two decades ago . According to Page Six, the website has been edited to appear entirely black.
“In memoriam. September 11, 2001,” the site read before listing the names of the nearly 3,000 people who died in the attack on the United States. The site has since returned to normal.
After the United States, Britain lost the most citizens on September 11, with 67 killed. Britain offered its full support to its transatlantic allies and Queen Elizabeth II ordered “The Star Spangled Banner” to be performed outside Buckingham Palace the day after the attack.

Markle and Harry’s tribute is accompanied by the Queen’s message honoring those who lost their lives on September 11 earlier today.
“As we mark the 20th anniversary of the terrible attacks of September 11, 2001, my thoughts and prayers – along with those of my family and the entire nation – are with the victims, survivors and affected families, as well as first responders. and rescuers called to work “, the queen said in a statement.
In her statement, the Queen referred to her 2010 visit to the World Trade Center and said the trip “is etched in my memory.”
“It reminds me that as we honor those of many nations, faiths and origins who have lost their lives, we also pay tribute to the resilience and determination of the communities who have come together to rebuild,” she said.

The message came a day after Harry released a joint statement with Dominic Reid, the CEO of his Invictus Games. The 36-year-old has already served in the British Army for a decade, including two deployments to Afghanistan.

“What is happening in Afghanistan resonates throughout the international community of Invictus,” the statement read. “Many participating and competing countries in the Invictus Games family have a common experience of service in Afghanistan over the past two decades, and for several years we have competed alongside the Invictus Games Afghanistan team.”
