Meghan Markle and Prince Harry share America’s first Christmas card – and Archie has red hair!

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry released a family vacation card ahead of their first American Christmas in Montecito, California.

The card, which is an illustration of a photo, was posted by Mayhew, the patronage of Meghan’s animal welfare organization in the UK.

The couple’s son Archie (who clearly inherited daddy Harry’s red hair!) And their two adorable dogs, Pula and Guy, are in the foreground.

“I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year,” the card states.

“The original family photo was taken at their home earlier this month by the Duchess’s mother,” a spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex said. “The small Christmas tree, including the homemade ornaments and other decorations, was selected by Archie, and the tree will be replanted after the holidays.”

The map offers a glimpse of Meghan and Harry’s backyard – and Archie’s special theater!

“Archie is really happy, and he has space to run for free,” a source told PEOPLE. “The house has come with a play structure he will be climbing on in no time.”

In the card, Meghan confirms that her family made a personal donation to Mayhew, which will support their vital work in helping dogs, cats and communities.

“This year as a family we have donated to several charities with you in mind,” Meghan wrote. “From a local California organization that helps families get out of homelessness, to two of our UK sponsorships: one that supports animals and community welfare, and the other, a memorial fund for a friend dear who helps educate children and fight poverty in Uganda, we have honored their work on behalf of all of us.

Last year, Meghan and Harry shared their first Christmas card as a family of three. They spent the final holiday season on Vancouver Island in Canada as they prepared to step down as members of the Royal Family.

In 2018, the then newlyweds released their first couple Christmas card with a snap from their royal wedding reception at Frogmore House.

The couple were “thrilled” to celebrate their first Christmas together at their new California home, which they bought over the summer. Much like they did on Thanksgiving, they will be joined by Meghan’s mom Doria Ragland for the holidays.

The couple had fun decorating their new home for the season and even went shopping for Christmas trees.

“Archie is thriving and growing rapidly. As a family, they spend hours outside,” an insider told PEOPLE.

Meghan and Harry suffered a difficult loss shortly after moving to Montecito. And with the thinking time around Thanksgiving, Meghan decided to speak openly about her miscarriage in July.

“Losing a child means carrying an almost unbearable grief, experienced by many but which few people talk about,” Meghan wrote in a New York Times test last month.

Christmas will be different for the entire royal family amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Queen Elizabeth has canceled the Royal Family’s annual celebration at Sandringham as she isolates herself alongside her husband Prince Philip at Windsor Castle amid the ongoing pandemic.
