Meghan Markle and Prince Harry to be stripped of all remaining royal bosses as the palace braces for Oprah

MEghan Markle and Prince Harry have decided to give an interview to their friend Oprah Winfrey after learning they are going to be stripped of all their remaining royal ties when the terms of their Royal Family release package are reviewed on March 31, that was claimed on Tuesday.

The Daily mail says Buckingham Palace insiders believe the interview, due to be shown on CBS on March 7, was hosted by Meghan, 39, and Harry, 36, as the couple could ‘see the direction of travel’ regarding their future royal roles.

The Mail, whose publishers Associated Newspapers humiliatingly lost a high-profile privacy lawsuit brought by Meghan last week, claim the couple are now almost certain the Queen will ask them to drop their remaining ties to any organization handed down by the family royal.

Harry will have to relinquish his three remaining honorary military titles as well as his key role as head of royal support for the London Marathon. Meghan will be asked to step down as patron of the National Theater, but the Mail suggests that maybe she could negotiate another position with them.

Oddly enough, the palace seems keen to show that it is not behaving in retaliation or vindictiveness against Meghan, who is pregnant, and Harry, informing that the decision to strip the couple of their last remaining royal titles is not a reaction to the interview. The suggestion is that Harry and Meghan could just sense which way the wind was blowing and walk away.

The Daily Beast understands that Buckingham Palace had not been informed of the interview in advance, but courtiers sought to calm any grievances on Monday evening, with sources claiming that as the couple no longer worked for the Royal Family, any decision taken regarding “media engagements are their business” and that they had “no obligation” to inform the palace of their plans.

While it is unlikely to have such a severe impact on the royal family as Prince Andrew’s 2019 interview with Newsnight and Princess Diana’s bombshell, 1995 interview with Panorama, there will likely be some dread over what Meghan might reveal in the interview. The palate is believed to be particularly nervous about possible allegations of racism or sexism and the settlement of “old scores”, The temperature reports.

Meghan and Harry sitting with Winfrey isn’t an unexpected development, however.

The talk show host attended the couple’s wedding in 2018, having only met Meghan once before, and has been diligently courting the couple ever since.

In 2019, it was announced that she and Harry were working together on a mental health documentary and Winfrey was also pictured visiting Meghan’s mother Doria at her home in Los Angeles. They live close to each other in Montecito and Winfrey used her influence on social media to plug in a brand of coffee drinks that Meghan has invested in.

A source told the Mail that the next meeting with Winfrey was “one of the most inevitable and, unfortunately, foreseeable consequences” of the couple’s departure from the royal family.
