Meghan Markle made her first public appearance since the birth of her son Archie, three days after President Trump's visit to the United Kingdom.
The Duchess of Sussex appeared with her husband, Prince Harry, in a carriage during the annual Trooping the Color parade, an official ceremony of Queen Elizabeth II's birthday.
The parade is held regularly in June, good weather. The Queen, whose birthday is April 21, is 93 years old.
Prince Harry and Markle were joined by their in-laws, Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, and Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall.
Baby Archie, born May 6, did not show up with his parents at the parade. Although Markle is reintegrating into public life, her appearances will likely remain minimal until she is officially on maternity leave in October.
"The Duchess is still on maternity leave and will not resume full-time work until the fall," said a source at Vanity Fair. "It was important for her to be in Trooping today out of respect for the Queen, reflecting what the Duchess of Cambridge [Kate] is on maternity leave. Markle's re-entry into public life comes shortly after the royal family welcomed Trump on his first official visit to the UK. Markle, an American actress, did not attend any of the official ceremonies attended by the president, which led some to speculate that she was snubbing Trump. Trump went to Europe for the 75th anniversary of D-Day.
Prior to his visit, Trump said he was unaware that Markle was "naughty" in an interview with a British tabloid in response to Markle's comments about Trump in 2016. Trump then said that he referred to Markle's comments in which she called him "divisional" and "misogynist", and not to Markle herself.
