Meghan Markle: Police will not reveal the cost of safety for the sumptuous baby shower in New York

The police refused to reveal what "security measures" had been put in place for Meghan Markle during her trip to New York for a star baby shower.

The 37-year-old Duchess of Sussex flew to New York in February on a 33 million pound private jet and partyed in a penthouse suite of £ 66,000 a night.

But now, Met Police has refused to indicate what measures had been put in place to protect our royal, such as the number of bodyguards who accompanied it or how much it cost the taxpayers.

In response to a request for access to information (FOI), Scotland Yard emphasized the concerns of "national security" preventing it from revealing costs.

Their response to Mail Online stated: "Confirming or denying that security is provided to the Duchess of Sussex could compromise the protection of national security, allow persons with criminal intent to obtain an operational advantage over the MPS. [Metropolitan Police Service] and endanger those who benefit from protection, protection officers and members of the public. "

It is estimated that Meghan's baby shower cost over £ 300,000. That would have included £ 30,000 for catering and entertainment in the United States.

Kensington Palace pointed out that these costs were financed privately, mainly by the king's pals.

But the police response to JTF angered British militants.

The anti-monarchy group of the Republic said: "Royal spending is out of control and a significant portion of the annual cost of £ 345 million represents the security of more than a dozen royals.

"For years, the police and the government have refused to give details, but the public has the right to know if Meghan spends public money on private trips, the taxpayer should be warned.
