Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s revealing interview with Oprah Winfrey is said to have left their family members feeling embittered.

During their two-hour conversation, the Sussexes addressed the struggles in their relationship with members of their royals.

Markle brought up a rumor that she made her sister-in-law Kate Middleton cry when she married Harry, explaining that it was actually the other way around.

Additionally, Harry has revealed that he and his brother Prince William have put a ‘space’ between them in the wake of the drama surrounding Harry’s exit from royal duties.

Now, royal expert Katie Nicholl has spoken with Entertainment Tonight about the effect of the bombshell interview on Middleton, 39, and William, 38, who remain in the UK while Markle and Harry live in the States -United.

“William is devastated by this interview,” Nicholl said. “Remember that the Duchess of Cambridge [Middleton] is drawn into this whole saga and William will hate that and of course, the relationship between the father [Prince Charles] and her son is of course at an all-time low. “

Further, Nicholl said Middleton would find it ‘upsetting’ to be ‘drawn into’ the royal drama, especially as she ‘worked to make peace between William and Harry’.

“She was deeply saddened by the falling out between the brothers,” said the expert. “Remember she was incredibly close to Harry herself.

Additionally, Nicholl said it was unclear what the relationship between the couples would look like in the future, although Harry indicated in the interview that time will heal his family’s divisions.

“Harry said time is a healer and it is,” said Nicholl. “But I think there are so many raw emotions here, it’s far too early to talk about any kind of family reunion.”

Harry, 36, also said he believed William and their father, Charles, were ‘trapped’ within the institution – a sentiment Nicholl deems unfair to members of the royal family.

“Harry was born in a very different role than William – he was born the alternate, William the heir,” she said. “William always knew what his duty and birthright were.

Nicholl continued, “I’m sure there are times he resent the institution he was born into and there have been times he turned him off the institution, I don’t think so. not that that’s true and I don’t think it’s probably Harry’s job to say anything. “

Harry also discussed his 72-year-old father, revealing that at one point Charles had stopped taking his calls.

“There came a time when Charles just didn’t want to hear what Harry and Meghan were up to anymore,” Nicholl said. “Instead, he asked her to post an email, something Harry didn’t want to do because he was convinced it would leak and Harry was absolutely right.” It leaked to the press and that’s why he took matters into his own hands. “

She added that “it must have been a very difficult thing for Harry to say” that he felt disappointed in his father, but also a “difficult” thing for Charles to hear, especially since Nicholl said that they were rather tight-knit.

“So that closeness quickly turned to resentment and detachment when Charles didn’t want to sit down and discuss what Harry and Meghan wanted for the future over the phone and that’s where we understand the relationship to be. ‘collapsed,’ she said. “But for Charles to hear that he felt disappointed with Harry will be really, really painful.”
