Meghan Markle is about to turn 40 on Wednesday and she is said to have organized a party to celebrate this milestone anniversary. The festivities will likely include many A-List celebrities who live in the Montecito, California area where Meghan and Prince Harry have settled – and there will be a major Oprah Winfrey touch.
The Duchess of Sussex has reportedly hired Oprah’s favorite party organizer Colin Cowie to throw a ‘low-key’ party for 65 guests at their property, according to The Mirror. Given their close friendship, it’s no wonder Meghan turned to the talk show host to find out who would help her organize the party while on maternity leave. “Megan wants a small gathering. About 65 people are invited, his closest friends and family, ”a source told the UK publication. “Colin was recommended to her by Oprah who always throws fabulous parties.”

One glance at the Colin Cowie Lifestyle website, and we know Meghan’s 40th birthday celebration is not going to be an ordinary event. The designer describes his work as “creating bespoke luxury experiences around the world”, so we expect something spectacular (and maybe not as “low-key” as we think). With Cowie directing events for stars like Tom Cruise, Jennifer Aniston, and Jennifer Lopez, it’s likely no expense will be spared.

The insider also reveals that Harry specially ordered a cake from a small Santa Barbara business, Posies & Sugar, a bakery that “loves[s] to create personalized treats ”, so this will be one of the delicious items on the menu. Cowie would make sure the rest of the food and wine was sourced from local farms and vineyards as well. We can just feel Oprah’s touches all over this birthday party – and we’re pretty sure the talk show host scored one of those exclusive invitations to the celebration.
