Meghan Markle’s father believes some of her struggles could have been tackled with her help.
Thomas Markle, who has been estranged from his daughter since the time of her marriage, appeared on “Good Morning Britain” on Tuesday and addressed the Duchess’s explosive interview with her husband Prince Harry and Oprah Winfrey .
Among the revelations shared during the two-hour session, Meghan, 39, faced suicidal thoughts amid intense criticism from the press.
Thomas, 76, believes, however, that he could have offered help to his daughter during this time.

“If I had known she was having psychological issues, I would have been there for her,” he said. “The biggest problem here is that she almost ghosts her whole family on her mother and me side.”
Thomas said it “upset” him to learn that his daughter was having such dark thoughts during her pregnancy. The Duchess also claimed she was not entitled to receive help as she was told it would reflect poorly on the royal family.
“It would have been easy for her to contact me and any member of her family – whom she claims not to know,” Thomas said on “GMB”. “But the other thing is, I would think she might turn to her husband.”

Markle said she turned to Harry, who said he went to a “dark place” upon learning of his wife’s struggles, but supported her nonetheless.
The tension between Meghan Markle and her father Thomas began when he staged paparazzi photos and denied doing so to his daughter.

“In the end, she didn’t lose me. She made a statement saying she lost me. She didn’t lose me,” Thomas added. “I would have always been there for here. I’m here for her now if she wants me.”

Meghan’s estranged half-sister Samantha has also spoken out and rebuffed her sister’s claims they didn’t know each other well, as well as Meghan’s claim that Samantha changed her last name to Markle after the former “Suits” star started dating Harry.

Samantha showed Inside Edition that a petition to change her name to Markle was dated 1997 and her college degree, which also reads “Markle.”
