Meghan Markle’s latest look was both stylish and durable.
The Duchess of Sussex, 39, often uses her outfits to send a message, and there may have been one hidden in the Carolina Herrera dress she wore to announce her second pregnancy on Sunday.
For the black and white photo taken via iPad by photographer Misan Harriman, a friend of Markle and Prince Harry, the Duchess donned a flowy dress that was tailor-made for her by the brand’s creative director, Wes Gordon .
“I did [the dress] for her when she was pregnant with Archie, so almost two years ago. There is a reality, it’s 2021, and we have a world to save, right? Gordon told The Telegraph that Markle was wearing the outfit again.
“This is an undeniable crisis, and everyone must do their part. At Herrera, we are committed to researching sustainable fabrics. But the first thing someone can do for durability is to keep the parts you buy and use them longer, ”he continued.
“That’s why I think what Meghan has done is such a powerful message. She was wearing a dress that is no less beautiful, because she is two years old… it makes her feel no less special or no less happy.
Markle has long been a Gordon supporter; she wrote that she was “obsessed” with her “gorgeous, glorious, effortlessly sexy” designs on her now defunct lifestyle blog, The Tig, in 2014. The following year, she was seated in the front row of l ‘one of Gordon’s parades for his namesake tag.
The Duchess also sported Gordon’s designs for Carolina Herrera during her royal duties, most notably at the Queen’s Trooping the Color ceremony in 2018 and during her royal tour of Morocco while pregnant with Archie in 2019.
