The estranged half-sister, however, also urged the Duchess to apologize after posting – what she called – “inappropriate” photos on Remembrance Sunday.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited Los Angeles National Cemetery to mark Remembrance Sunday and posted photos of the moment.
Meghan and Harry were absent from the annual commemoration at the Cenotaph in London, having started a new life in California after resigning from the royal family.
The couple laid flowers that Meghan picked from their garden at the graves of two Commonwealth soldiers, one who had served in the Royal Australian Air Force and the other in the Royal Canadian Artillery.
“Any honest person would never have allowed, out of kindness and humanity, to go this far.”
The royal couple had also placed a wreath on an obelisk in the cemetery which features a plaque bearing the inscription “In memory of the men who gave their lives to defend their country”.
Harry signed a message with the crown saying, “To all who have served and serve. Thank you.”
Photos posted by the couple include one of them standing in front of the crown where Harry has his head bowed.
Harry, who spent 10 years in the armed forces, wore a navy blue suit with his service medals attached, while Meghan wore a long black belted coat.
A spokesperson for the couple said: “It was important for the Duke and Duchess to be able to personally recognize the Remembrance in their own way, to pay tribute to those who served and to those who gave their lives.”
