The co-host of "The View" on Monday answered conservative commentator Denise C. McAllister for having swept her ABC talk show.
McAllister tweeted a story about "The View" using a photo of McCain as the main image. The specialist wrote for The Federalist, a Web magazine co-founded by McCain's husband, Ben Domenech.
"Can someone explain the purpose of The View?" McAllister tweeted. "It seems to me to be a round table of delusional mental minuses that ricochet ignorance and lack of emotional regulation."
McCain, present on "The View" since 2017, replied that "you were at my wedding, Denise".
Faster than you could say, "Oh no, she did not do it," the response elicited memes and comments.
"From now on, every subtitle of the New York cartoon should be" you were at my wedding, Denise, "wrote TV author Jess Dweck.
McAllister clarified what she meant by tweeting to McCain: "I think the photo of the story suggests that it was personally addressed to you, Meghan."
"My comment was about The View and the mental liars around you," McAllister wrote. "I do not even know how you do it every day, and I'm taking a hat for keeping you strong in the midst of lunatics."
