Meghan McCain, host of "The View", received a wave of retaliation Tuesday after trying to defend the rights of firearms against her co-hosts.
The Liberal gabfest, returning from the summer, was discussing President Trump's position on the background check and types of reforms he would like to see.
During the discussion, McCain warned that removing firearms from people would result in more violence. After co-host Joy Behar intervened, McCain categorically stated, "I do not live without guns."
McCain seemed annoyed as the audience reacted by telling her that she felt "safe" with guns at her home. Sunny Hostin, the co-host, said that she wanted to ban "assault weapons that kill our children".

"Very good, I love being in the signal of virtue 20 minutes after the first show," she said. She and the co-hosts had just returned for the premiere of the 23rd season of the show.
On Twitter, McCain, the daughter of the late Sen. John McCain, received a lot of criticism, with a user suggesting that she should be removed from the series.

Others, like National Rifle Association spokeswoman Dana Loesch, have defended the talk show host.
McCain seemed to accept the critics lucidly, tweeting actor Clint Eastwood winking at him while smoking a cigarette.
