Tensions began to increase between Behar and McCain as they discussed the plan that McAleenan could bring to border security issues.

Before the situation escalated further, Goldberg intervened.

"This is what will not happen today – we will not do that," she said. "Everyone gets an element of conversation, everyone can say it, and we do not need to comment if we do not like what we hear, let people talk."

Goldberg then turned to Behar and asked him to finish what she was saying, but Behar, clearly surprised, replied that she "had forgotten what it was now."

This is not the first time the two have clashed over problems on the show. In January, McCain spoke to Van Jones about his conflict with Behar.

"I will say above all that when we do not talk about politics, we have a lot in common," she said. "But we are both true believers and it is an excellent training partner on the air for this reason because she truly believes in her liberal principles."

She added that the two heard very well backstage and sometimes had a drink together.
