Loyalty over royalty?
Meghan Markle’s friend Priyanka Chopra appeared to ignore Prince William and Kate Middleton as the couple took their seats in Wimbleton on Saturday.
The ‘Quantico’ alum, 38, did not cheer with the rest of the crowd as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, both 39, entered the Royal Box ahead of the singles final feminine in a clip obtained by the Daily Mail.
Instead, Chopra was seen adjusting her scarf and apparently avoiding eye contact with William and Middleton as they mingled with other VIP guests.
The actress later appeared to look away from the royals again when she passed them on the Central Court balcony, according to photos released by the newspaper.
Chopra’s apparent snub may not have been a coincidence, as her longtime friend Markle, 39, fell out with the royals.
The Duchess of Sussex opened up about her controversial affair with Middleton during her interview with Oprah Winfrey in March.
Markle claimed in the explosive interview that Middleton made him cry a few days before her May 2018 wedding to Prince Harry.
A royal expert has since claimed Middleton has ‘moved past’ the drama and said she ‘looks forward’ to meeting Harry and Markle’s newborn daughter Lilibet Diana.
But things have also been tense between Harry, 36, and William after the Duke of Sussex and Markle resigned from the royal family last year.
The brothers have been feuding for months, although they were able to reunite peacefully at an event honoring their late mother, Princess Diana, earlier this month. Neither of their wives attended the ceremony, where a statue of the Princess of Wales was unveiled.
Meanwhile, Chopra and Markle have been close friends for years now, although there was speculation that they were on the sidelines in early 2019. However, an insider told Page Six at the era: “There is no problem between the two women. They are friends.”
Chopra herself put an end to the rumors later that year, stating on “Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen”, “No it’s not true.”
