The Oscar winner, Mel Gibson, will play a "noisy, unorthodox" Santa in a new film titled "Fatman," according to Variety. According to the report, the film should begin shooting in Canada in early 2020. It is not yet known who will be the star alongside Gibson in the film.

The description of the plot by Variety indicates that Gibson will play a version of Santa Claus that "fights against the decline of his business, while a neglected 12-year-old young man hires a henchman to kill him after receiving a piece of coal in his bottom. "

Fatman will be led by brothers Ian and Eshom Nelms, from a screenplay they wrote. They previously worked in Waffle Street, Lost on Purpose and Small Town Crime.

Gibson is just the last famous actor to play Santa Claus. Tim Allen portrayed the character from the series The Santa Clause, while Richard Attenborough performed it in the 1994 film Miracle on 34th Street. More recently, Kurt Russell played Santa in Netflix's hugely popular movie, The Christmas Chronicles.

Gibson has been awarded twice by an Oscar and was awarded for Braveheart in 1995.
