NBC's reality TV lineup will remain virtually the same next year: in the future, the network has renewed all but one of its reality shows, although it is replacing a host.
This does not change, however The voice the judges, exactly the same members – Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton – are back in the fall. It's the first time The voice have the same coaches in consecutive seasons since the third season.
The only reality show that's on the bubble is Titan Games, hosted by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. NBC says "decisions have yet to be made" for this series and three scripted series.
One of the best reality shows of 2019: Making it, which had previously been renewed for a second season, will come back during the holidays as a two-week special.
NBC uses the word "eventize" and says that "the season is organized over a two-week period," which sounds both exciting and disappointing. I love reality TV holiday shows, including The big American pastry show and The singer, but being compressed in just two weeks seems fast for what was a competition series in 10 episodes.
There will also be another special holiday reality TV: The biggest night of gifts from Ellen. NBC describes this as "a new tradition rich in massive surprises".
The biggest change in the NBC lineup is a new host for Little big shots. Melissa McCarthy will replace Steve Harvey and return to television (she played for six seasons in Mike and Molly).
The new version will be broadcast at 8 am on Sunday next spring, after the closing of Sunday Night Football. Season three is over last summer, so there will be a gap of a year and a half between the seasons.
NBC Entertainment Co-Chair Paul Telegdy said "the changes will be apparent" in the new show and that McCarthy "will bring him a completely new perspective".
