NEW YORK – Two members of the far right Proud Boys were convicted of attempting to assault a gang for their role in a scrum that followed a speech at the Metropolitan Republican Club in New York.
A jury on Monday sentenced Maxwell Hare and John Kinsman as part of the October 2018 fight between members of the 100% male Proud Boys group and the poorly organized anti-fascist group known as Antifa.

Hare and Kinsman's lawyers said the two men acted in self-defense, but prosecutors said that both themselves and other members of Proud Boys had engaged in physical combat.
Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. said the defendants beat four people "for brutal political violence".
