Mercedes-AMG GT R with 880 HP is a black series of tuner

The current rule of Mercedes AMG performance cars is the powerful AMG GT R, a tracked weapon designed to devour 911s and everything in its path. If the AMG GT R seems a little too tame, you can always wait for the next Black Dog series or call Posaidon, a tuner ready to turn your AMG GT R into a monster of 880 horsepower.

The Mercedes AMG GT R uses a refined version of the M178 twin-turbo V8 engine, which produces 577 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. These figures may seem acceptable to any sensible person, however, the Posaidon tuners lack reason in terms of power.

The Posaidon tuning package for the AMG GT R adds more than 300 hp, or 880 hp. Posaidon can achieve these crazy goals through a new configuration of ball-bearing turbochargers, forged pistons and a new fuel system. There is also a new complete exhaust configuration with larger turbo downpipes.

Although the engine is capable of generating a tremendous amount of torque, it has been limited to 737 lb-ft to protect the dual-clutch transmission. Another set-up time was spent refining this set to reliably produce this new power. With an additional 330 hp, the Posaidon AMG GT Rs have a new top speed of 223 mph.

With nearly 900 horses in use, the AMG GT R Posaidon is the closest to the AMG GT Black series that Mercedes has not yet revealed. With the current AMG GT approaching the end of its life cycle, we hope to see even more tuners take advantage of the very powerful M178 V8.
